Late Street Decisions
Late Street Decisions Texas Hold ‘Em is a seven-card poker game - each player gets two cards, three cards come out on the flop, followed by two more “street” cards. Fourth street is the turn, fifth street is the river. Good online poker players only play about 15 -20 percent of their starting cards so the last two cards are irrelevant to their folded hands. For players who do pay to see the flop, the turn and river are of utmost importance. When the flop misses your poker hand, you should fold it. If you have a made a hand, like high pair, two pairs or a set, then your hand has a good possibility of winning. Generally most of the field will drop out after the flop, leaving two or three in contention. Even with a made hand, one has to be cautious at this point. Is your made hand the very best possible before the turn? If not what can beat it? Does the flop offer straight or flush possibilities for other players? You have to ask yourself these questions before investing any more chips on the turn and river. If you are on a draw, and there is a bet, then consider your odds. An open-ended straight gives you 5-1. If you only have to call one bet, it is worthwhile. With a big raise, it is not worth calling. When in doubt, think about how much you have invested in the pot already. If calling is only a small percentage of the number of chips you’ve already contributed, then go for it.
